So you’re perplexed by my post on Paris and The Chocolate Walk? Don’t be. Walking’s my thing (on a golf course or off) and walking in comfort is my obsession. Now that we have the comfort formula down for the links it’s time to turn our attention to everyplace else. In all modesty, of course.
This fall EQUIPT is coming out with two great looking and, kill me now, COMFORTABLE walking shoes for the non-golfers of this world: Soufflé and Mox. The linksters are welcome to pile on for their off-course promenading, but this is a nod to the non-golfers out there (some are even my friends) who have asked for cleatless golf shoes to wear with whatever on the weekend.
NEW SHOE DESIGNS: MOX & SOUFFLÉ
One new design (MOX) will be built on the nibbed sole you’ve seen on our Aprés Everything shoe and the second (SOUFFLÉ) will be based on a whole new sole appearance that will look perfect with your jeans. Our new walking shoes will have the same inner construction that make our women’s golf shoes and course-to-street shoes so ridiculously comfortable. No doubt about it, your feet will worship the ground you (we) walk on.
THE WORLD NEEDS BETTER WALKING SHOES: EQUIPT’S SOUFFLÉ IS LIGHT AS AIR
It may not be obvious at first glance why I elected to write about walking in a context other than golf in my post about the Paris Chocolate Walk, but it is central to what I enjoy. That Chocolate Walk was a great romp down Hedonism Lane and this company is all about play whenever/wherever we find it (in case you forgot). And because play should inform everything we do, this chocoholic’s pleasure promenade confirmed once and for all what she’s known deep down for awhile: the world needs better walking shoes or we won’t be feeling very playful.
SHOE ANGST: JUST BEING CUTE WON’T CUT IT
So there I was planning my wardrobe for Paris when I was seized by serious, debilitating shoe angst. How to cover those cobble-stoned miles on foot, look great and feel comfortable – at the same time? The shoe thing impinged on the walking thing and that was going to be problematic. I had cute solutions to the look thing in my closet (91 pairs to be exact, for shame; 13 pairs of flats), but nothing that was going to handle the demands of walking at least six miles a day in rain and snow. I confess to heading to Aerosols to see what anonymous thing I could find that would look discrete and wouldn’t kill. (I ended up with super simple black suede ankle boots.) It felt like I was back where I started with the golf shoes. Someone had to come up with something that would coddle the feet and not offend the eyes in one fell swoop.
COMFORT IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE MY OBSESSION
Note to self: Manolos are for cocktails; Equipt, for walking. (It’s about the comfort, stupid.) So I sat at my computer and stayed there till I came up with some great looking (I think), insanely comfortable, All-The-Time walking shoes, that would give every one of us permission to go outside and play like we meant it.
